Mark was exhausted and HOT!

Well, there you have it, 93 inside our house! That wasn't even the highest!!! We are all moved into the hotel now. :( I already miss our adorable little house, and I am going to miss this adorable little community. The hard work is done, now Mark and I just want to soak up our last few days before he leaves. We are going to go to Southcenter to eat Cheesecake Factory tomorrow and then Kenny Chesney concert Saturday! I can't wait!!!!

The HEAT is on!!!

Please note that the thermostat says that is is 9:32 AM and it is 77 degrees...and don't worry, it is going UP!!!! By yesterday afternoon it was 88 degrees INSIDE! We don't have an A/C, and most days it is not needed...but right now I would pay a large sum of money to have a cool house. Let me tell you that leather couches are beautiful, but not fun when you must peel yourself off when you need to get up. Rarely is it this hot in WA, but I heard that it is supposed to be 102 today. What the heck? I am going to melt...that is a fact! I have discovered one way to momentarily cool off. Jump in a cold shower, don't dry off, and stand in front of the portable fan until it dries you and cools you at the same time. The problem is that when I step away from the fan, the sweat starts pouring out and I have to repeat the above steps. I might turn my house into a nudist colony. Well, maybe not, but it sounds like a good idea.

101st post!

Wow! So, I just realized that the last posting was my 100th post and I have been writing this blog for over a year! Time flies!!!! I wanted to write something about my 1st blog anniversary, but looks like I missed it. Bummer!

Well, big changes coming to the blog. Scratch that idea about me redesigning my blog. I gave in and found someone to do it for me. I just really wanted something super cute and personalized, and well...if you know me at all, you know I am not the most patient girl around. As Mark says, "She wants what she wants, when she wants it." Maybe eventually I will teach myself how to do it, but not soon enough.

Happy 101st blog post to me! :) Thanks for reading!

3-2 Deployment Ceremony

This morning was the deployment ceremony for 3rd Brigade. It was really cool. This is one of those times when I LOVE being an Army Wife. I love it when the soldiers march in formation...I love the Army band...and I just love the proud feeling I get inside when I see what my husband and I are a part of.

Packing, and such...

Well, I wish I had something more exciting to write about, but unfortunately, I don't. I am moving right along on the packing front. I have finished the craft room, 1/2 finished with office and guest room, and about 1/4 done with our bedroom. We are doing the living/dining room and kitchen last so we aren't totally living in a depressing, blank home. Upstairs it is really sad!

I really hate packing...especially knowing that Mark is leaving in less than 2 weeks. I find myself spending extra time folding his clothes and really letting the smell of him soak in. I know it is strange, but those are the things I don't want to forget over the next year. If you have never had to experience your best friend, soul mate, love of your life leave for any amount of time, I pray that you never have to. Let me assure is NOT FUN! We have already done 15 months apart, so I know that, with lots of prayer for strength...we can do the next 12 months.

Tomorrow is the deployment ceremony. I'm not really sure what to expect from this little ceremony, but I am assuming I will shed a few tears. I will post pics tomorrow afternoon.

Well, I am about to head up to the studio to have a few rehearsals for my kids that are competing next week and also sub for the studio owner who had a baby last week! :) I will really miss my Washington dance kids...

Professional Hobby Collector

This is my new job title: Professional Hobby Collector

My husband has dubbed me in the last couple of weeks both a hobby collector and a lady of leisure. While the first one is right on, I am not so sure about the second. leisurely is my life? Okay, at times, it is just that, but let's be real... I have so many jobs! Dance teacher, cake baker, Mary Kay lady, part time office assistant...I thought there was 5, but maybe I am more leisurely than I thought.

Anyway...I do love HOBBIES!!! Through the years I have tried cooking, sewing, baking, scrapbooking, a little card making/stamping, reading, SCUBA, skiing, and running. I'm sure I am forgetting some, but that covers the big ones. I actually still enjoy all of the ones I listed, but there are a few new ones that I have the urge to add. Usually the new hobbies involve a shopping trip to get the best "gear" for my newest activity, a how to book and lots of time on the Internet researching my latest and greatest endeavor.

And now for my next 2 tricks.... I want to take photography classes this fall and I want to figure out how to design my own blog design. I am getting really tired of the standard templates. I want a really cute one, with my own signature and lots of fun things! Those two things don't have much to do with each other except just maybe...I can post my beautiful photos that I will take with an amazing camera to my newly designed blog!!!! Oh, how I love when everything comes together so nicely...

I think it is time to research web design and whatever else I can think of to keep myself from packing. 4 1/2 boxes have been packed thus far. Waiting on Mark to get home with a car to get moth balls. Do those really work?

The Shack

This is a must read! I ran out of books over leave and picked this one up after hearing about it from about 4 people. I read it in about 3 hours total and now I already want to read it again. It was that good! The Shack Book (Check out the website for more information about the book.) I assure you that you won't be disappointed. Happy Reading!

Rent a Pet

We made it back to Dupont safe and sound. It was a long day of travel with 2 stops along the way and then a packed full bus ride home. The only problem was coming home with no little Daisy bear! We miss, if anyone knows of somewhere to rent a pet for the next couple of weeks, that would be great! Thanks!!! :)

Happy Birthday Keri!

Last night we celebrated KK's 27th b'day at Joe T.'s. It was DELISH!!!! Mamo brought some red velvet cake and we ate until we were stuffed. Nothing is better than good friends, fun, family and MEXICAN FOOD!

Vacation Slideshow

The King of Pop is in the DR

Our resort had nightly shows and this was our FAVORITE!!! This guy was an amazing MJ look alike. He even had all of his mannerisms down to a T. I am guessing that they have been performing this show even before he passed. It was really great! Enjoy the video!!!! More vacation posts to come...

Last Tuesday, before leaving for vacation I planned a little surprise for my lovely husband who just turned 30! I thought it would be a good excuse to get some good friends and family together for one last hoorah before Mark heads out and also I wanted to make his birthday extra special. I sneakily (is that a word??) invited guests and had it arranged for On the Border. That was the easy part! The hard part was convincing Mark that we should eat there. He was very adamant in the fact that he did NOT want On the Border. We had just eaten Pappasitos, so he wanted to do something other than Mexican. Too bad! I already had 40 people showing up, and what kind of birthday party would it have been without a birthday boy. After begging and pleading and whining, Mark finally agreed that we could eat there. I told him that I was meeting my mom to get our nails done, and then he and my dad and bro would meet us there. He totally took the bait and was successfully surprised!!! He had NO CLUE! We really enjoyed visiting and celebrating. Thank you to everyone who came to the party...I know that Tuesday nights are probably not the most convenient, but Mark really really appreciated the effort! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARK! I LOVE YOU!

Paradise in Review

We just got back from Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (aka Paradise) last night. I wanted to write all about it before I forget. Forgive me in advance...this is going to be long!
First off...If you are trying to plan a Caribbean Vacation, give this place a look. We stayed at the Iberostar Grand Bavaro. Service is beyond amazing and it is an absolutely beautiful place!!!

Upon arrival to room 7112, we were greeted by our personal butler, Albert, with champagne and cool towels. He gave us the tour of our room, instructed us on how to work the remotes, told us about all the great services offered, and made our dinner reservations. As he was leaving our room, I asked if there was a dress code for dinner....his answer..."YES!, Men must wear long pants." Mark and I looked at each other and knew we were in trouble. There were NO pants in the suitcase!!! Mark asked if I thought he needed them and I said of course not...who wears pants at the beach!?! Well, I immediately got on the phone and asked Mama Lis to send pants pronto...hoping we would have them by Friday's dinner. Until then we would have to do room service. Unfortunately, that would have cost HUNDREDS of dollars!!! I found Albert, who was bringing worker pants for Mark to try on (disgusting, black, polyester)..which he immediately said NO, he would not wear those!!!! We asked if there was shopping anywhere, and next thing we knew, Albert picked us up on a golf cart and took us shopping to find pants. $80 later Mark was the proud owner of white linen pants. Hey, everyone needs at least one pair! We rushed back to the hotel and were still able to make our dinner reservations. Our vacation was saved by the pants!

R&R: For non-military people, this stands for Rest and Relaxation. That is about all we excursions...just enjoying the beauty of the ocean and spending quality time together. Mark and I each read 2 books each, we got a little sun, we kayaked and took a ride on a catamaran, we met new friends, ate a lot of fancy food art and really just had an amazing time!
I have sweet blood and mosquitos LOVE me...and for the record...I LOATHE them!!!! I had 52 bites, and I was constantly putting bug spray on...go figure!!!!
HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY MARK (or was that 30th?):
The resort did a great job of making Mark's 30th birthday special. I arranged for balloons, decorations, and a cake to be delivered to our room. I think they were confused with his age. His cake said Happy 30th Birthday, but the decorations were little sparkly 50's. I thought it was quite funny! :)

This resort was the ultimate in special treatment! Here are a few of the MANY services they provided:
-Pillow menu (choose whatever you prefer: down, firm, postupedic, etc.)
-Bath upon command 24 hours (Yes! They draw you a bath!!!!)
-Any type of drink stocked in mini bar...for free!!!
-Housekeeping 3X per day!
-Turn down service with flowers and chocolate
-Cabana boy service non-stop at the beach and pool
-Sunscreen and unlimited towels
-Beds by the pool and beach
-24 hour butler
-24 hour room service
*I decided I could get really used to these types of services and I would be a great rich person...LOL!

We finally made it!

Here is the video I made while driving through Wyoming. I was just playing around. The drive went well, but it was very, very long. Several alphabet games, several naps, lots of
reading and lots of singing. We arrived on the Fourth and had a delicious meal of fajitas and ritas at my parent's house. The Pembertons also came over and everyone had a great time! It was really refreshing to see everyone and eat some great food.

Here are the dogs waiting for Fajita Meat...SPOILED!

Yesterday, we went to the Ranger/Tampa Bay game. We had AMAZING seats! Thanks Mom!!!! We were directly behind the visitors dugout. KK got 2 balls!!!!!! Can you believe it? One from the coach and one from a player. I thought she should have put her number on it and tossed it back. Ha ha! And....the Rangers win!!!

Let the Fun Begin

Ok, so I feel like Summer officially begins starting tomorrow. We are starting the big road trip to Texas as soon as Mark gets off tomorrow. We don't really have a set schedule, it is pretty much just drive 'til we drop. This would not be my idea of fun, except somehow Mark and I have always had the best road trips. It is great "together" time and we think of lots of silly games to pass the time. The Alphabet game is our favorite. I win most of the, Mark has been known to pull a U-turn in the middle of a road in any given town in America to go back and call a letter. I call that CHEATING, he thinks it is more of a driver's advantage. Whatever!

Everyone keeps asking how the packing is going...well, pretty much NOT going at all. It seems like a huge task, and I just don't want to do it. I guess it means the end of this chapter, and that kinda makes me sad. I love our house here in Dupont, I love the community, and I am really going to miss being around people who understand all this Army Wife business. For those of you that don't know, we are driving a load of "valuables" home in the truck and then flying pack to put the rest of our stuff in storage. Then when Mark deploys, I will drive home the trailblazer filled with my necessities for the year. Not going to think about this now...because now is our FUN time!!!

Other news: Mark has been struggling with several injuries over that past year and hasn't felt all that great about his fitness level. Well, today he had a PT test and he did better than the best! Amazing! All the glory goes to God, for sure! He did a practice test last week and didn't do so hot, so there is no way he thought he was going to do well...and what do you know!? I'm a proud wife!
