After Christmas I decided that it was time for the "baby weight" to disappear. I needed something serious to jump start my weight loss and get all the junk out of my body! My friend, Marci, introduced me to the Whole30 diet a few months back, but I really wasn't in the right frame of mind to do it. When I commit to something...I commit!
The Whole30 basically consists of only eating meat, eggs, nuts, fruits and veggies! That is it! No sugar, grains, beans or anything processed! There are some other no no's but there are too many to list. I've eaten a lot of eggs and tons of salads!
I just finished Day 28, but I'm close enough to the end to post my thoughts and results on this diet.
The first day was HORRIBLE! Like...I was pretty sure I was going to die! Then it got better and I actually didn't really miss the food on the NO list. Now...towards the end I'm so torn on what to do. I really miss some foods, but I'm terrified that I will back track my progress. So...the jury is still out on what I will do in 2 days. For now, I'm thinking I will stick to the plan for the most part on Monday-Thursday and then eat what I want on the weekends.
-I didn't really notice a difference in my skin...I had heard that my skin would be radiant and blemish free...not so much. :(
-I didn't really notice any extra energy or less energy than before.
-Cravings for sugar have gone away...but not cravings for Mexican food! Those are still there...just suppressed a bit.
-And the big one....I lost 16 lbs!!!!! I'm not sure how many inches because I don't have a tape measure.
I don't have a before picture, but here is a picture of me in my pre baby citizen jeans! Not perfect, but a definite improvement! :)
So overall, I'd say the diet was a success!
